I really enjoyed the Meeting Aesclepius meditation this week. This one I did not struggle with, I thought that the amount of silent time to focus was just right, it didn't feel too long. Part of this has to do with the fact that I knew exactly the right person to choose to use as my focus. I am really starting to see the changes that I am making on the inside begin to show up on the outside. I have most noticed this with my physical activity, which is the one area that I chose as needing the most work in my life at the moment. Even today when I went on a walk with my daughter (while she rode her bike), I found myself asking questions to myself like, "why don't I pick up the pace to keep up with her better? Why don't I ever start to jog while I am out walking? What am I afraid of? What stops me from pushing myself physically?" I now know that I have all of the tools and means and strength inside to get to where I need to be physically. I will continue on using the different meditations that I have learned in this class, and keep working on my physical fitness.
I definitely feel that in order to be successful at a career in health and wellness that you need to be leading by example. I don't think that you can teach someone meditation, if you never meditate. I don't think that you can recommend yoga to someone without first trying it yourself. I am a Nutrition major, so I need to be in better physical shape before I graduate. As I think that it would be difficult to run a practice if I myself was not in the best physical shape of my life.

I have a lot of the same thoughts. I always want to be active but never really found a true interest in it. I started thinking about how active I was when I was younger. So I started thinking about what life was like then. I found that I was active because I was having fun. I do not have any children but I have dogs. So I like to take my dogs out and have fun with them. I like riding my bike and my dog will run beside me, or rollerskating with my dogs. I also have a lot of fun at the beach so I try to go a few times a month. Also working in the yard and cleaning things up. I am also going to be graduating with a degree in nutrition and I find it important for myself to be in shape and eating the way I want other people too. As I have learned more during school I have made many changes to live how I will be leading other people to live. Keep up the great work, the more experience you have the better you are going to be at your job.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I love your posts. They are outstanding and they seem that they are your real thoughts and especially the thoughts that probably been going around and around. I think maybe you ask yourself way too many questions that do not need to be asked. I can point out that you ask yourself too much, and then you do not answer those questions. Just go for a walk and start thinking about one thing and one thing only; that way you are not confused.

It is hard to push ourselves physically from time to time and it is even harder to push ourselves mentally. Working out and trying to get in shape can be demanding and not that much fun. Then to push ourselves harder and harder to continue to see results can be disheartening. I use to work out with my Ex-husband it helped to have someone pushing me. Now, I use my son as my work out partner and pass on my knowledge on to him. I have just started to work out this past three weeks (when I wasn’t sick) due to the meditations.
ReplyDeleteHello Heather, I completely agree with you this week exercise was easy ans powerful. I learn that I was able to relax and enter in focus much easier and for a longer time. In my opinion the professional is require to practice the integral healing in order to guide others. I really like your post and I hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather, I also liked this weeks exercise, but I had to slow the water down to a complete standstill, like a frozen river in the middle of winter, I have to have total stillness for this to work for me. I too found the perfect figure to use as a mentor, though I had to invent mine from my memory. Someone from the old "Kung-Fu" series from my childhood in the 70's, one of the Monks that was blind, yet had an understanding of the world outside of the box which he tried to instill in his students.
ReplyDeleteHi Heather,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post!! I also, find myself asking why don't I jog on my treadmill instead of walk? Why not eat a yougurt instead these chips? But now with these techniques I do find myself doing better, but still need a lot of work to make my self healthier. It has been a little over a month since i had a ciggarette, so I am really trying hard to get healthy.
Great Post!!
